MIA

It's been a long time since my mom has written about our stories. I keep trying to tell her that the readers want updates on ALL my misadventures, but she doesn't listen. Well, I finally made her log on today to share some of the latest news. One of the reasons my stories have not been posted is because, well, I've been in a little bit of "medical" trouble lately. About a month ago I was outside one night and I tore my ACL. It hurts really bad and the Vet referred us to an orthopedic specialist for a surgery consult. We haven't gone yet because the Vet told my mom that it may heal on its own with a lot of rest and relaxation. Ha! I am not the best patient for that! I just pick up my left rear leg and tear around the yard - just like I did before I hurt myself. My mom yells at me, but I still don't listen. I was wondering if any of my doggie friends have torn an ACL - did you have surgery or wait for it to heal on its own?

Daddy's Boy

My brother is such a daddy's boy!

He is so "people-dependent" it's pitiful!
My dad closed the bedroom door so he could get some extra sleep and Jackson stood outside the door whimpering for the longest time. Finally, he got the point that the door was not going to open so he decided to just lay up against it! And, of course, he made the saddest, most pitiful, face to my mom so she would feel bad for him. I mean - is this level of dependence normal?

Daisy O'Mae Celebrates St. Patty's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!
So far, I really like St. Patty's Day. I got to wear a pretty t-shirt and my mom gave me extra ground beef for breakfast! I wish it was St. Patrick's Day everyday!
My excitement even convinced Jackson that it would be fun to play with me! Nothing like a good wrestling match at 7am!

In Trouble AGAIN!

How was I NOT supposed to eat the package of sweet potatoes on the counter? Clearly this was not my fault! In fact, my new diet stresses the importance of only eating certain foods - which includes sweet potatoes.
So, here's what happened. While my mom and dad were at work I noticed a package of sweet potatoes (see that black styrofoam container in front my bed?!) on the kitchen counter (they were behind a steak knife). Well, I love sweet potatoes and I was not going to let a steak knife stand in my way. After careful deliberation with Jackson, I decided that I would grab the steak knife and hide it in my bed. Once that barrier was removed, I was able to grab the package of sweet potatoes and carry them to my bed.
The package was a little difficult to get into - the steak knife actually came in handy! Once I ate through the plastic wrap (and a little bit of the styrofoam) the sweet potatoes were all mine! They tasted a little different from the cooked ones my moms makes me, but I liked the crunchy texture.
Unfortunately, I couldn't hide the "evidence" before my mom got home. And, boy, was she mad at me! As soon as she came in the front door I knew I was in trouble...again! Just so you know, this "getting in trouble thing" isn't too bad (don't tell my mom or dad that). Getting in trouble means I get told I am a bad dog, I act remorseful and sorry, and my mom usually takes a picture or two of me getting in trouble. Well, this time my mom yelled at me a little longer than usual and finally I just yawned in her face! I mean, I just ate a lot of sweet potatoes, my tummy is full, and I would like to get back to my afternoon nap!

Lazy Daisy Mae

I just LOVE walks. I get to meet so many interesting people and other dogs too. I really like to run and bark at the dog park, everyone there is so friendly! Sometimes I get too excited early on during a walk and then I can barely make it back to my house.

But, once I get home I love to lay on the kitchen floor and re-hydrate. My walks are exhausting!
Because I am so tired when we get home from walks, I have mastered the art of laying next to the water bowl, which eliminates the need to stand while I drink. Pretty smart, huh?

Canoeing and Camping Adventure

This fall my mom and dad took Jackson and I on our first camping adventure. I got in trouble within 10 minutes of arriving to our canoe launching area. You see, I absolutely love water. All kinds of water. Well, they should have known that I would make a mad dash for the Suwannee River when I saw it. And that, is exactly what I did! Too bad I ended up pulling my mom down an embankment through bushes. But, I got to the water!

After my dad waded out into the river to get me back (hey, I was paddling downstream and I knew I was in BIG trouble anyway...the extra few minutes to swim was worth seeing my dad get mad at me!) they put me in a canoe! It was so much fun.

Although, I would have preferred to swim alongside the canoe instead! My mom said I couldn't swim too much because of alligators. It sure was hard for me to be in that canoe and be still. I wanted to jump overboard everytime a leaf floated by. To help calm me down my mom let me drink from her cup...it didn't work.

Once we got to the campsite we got to play in the water and run around with the other dogs who were with us. I could have played all night! It turned out to be a really cold night so my and my brother Jackson got to sleep inside a tent with my mom and dad. I slept so good!

Oh Brother!

Can you believe my brother?

He thinks he is sooo cool just because he wears sunglasses when we travel to Grandma and Grandpa's house. He just does it for the ladies and I think it is ridiculous.

I should point out that Jackson is supposed to be a RETRIEVER but my brother does not like water, does not fetch, and wears sunglasses! Hmmm...

Bath Day!

Baths are one of my favorite things! I just love water...any kind of water. After I get a bath I get a blow dry...I love it! Jackson tries to steal my blow dry time (he HATES water...all kinds of water). After my bath and blow dry I am very exhausted so I go to sleep. Today I got to sleep with a warm towel over me...it was so warm and comfortable that I slept for 3 hours straight!

Come on...I dare ya!

Hit me in the face again Biloxi and I will jump on that chair and get you!

I don't understand why Biloxi can get on the furniture and I can't. He always does this when we are playing.

It's NOT fair!

Allergies?! What allergies?!

What do you mean 59 allergy pills
is not good for me?

If I take one pill twice a day to make my allergies better, 59 pills after breakfast has to be better?!

How was I supposed to know that the box of allergy medicine on the kitchen counter was not for me to eat?

I hate getting in trouble...

Acupuncture Treatment

I love acupuncture!

You see, my mom has tried everything for all my allergies but nothing has worked. Well, a month ago my mom had Dr. Garner come to the house and she gave me acupuncture. Today was my second treatment.

Dr. Garner makes me feel so good! She tells me how happy and healthy I am AND she tells me I am a GOOD Girl. I love being a good girl!

The hardest part of acupuncture is staying still. My mom has to lay by me so I don't get up during treatment. 30 minutes is a long time for me to stay still!

Dr. Garner told my mom that I am allergic to all grain and dairy products (in addition to the other 20 environmental allergens I have). So, this means I don't get regular dog food anymore!

My mom cooks mustard greens, mushrooms, and beets for me. Then, she tops it all off with turkey! I love turkey almost as much as I love acupuncture.

After acupuncture I feel so relaxed.

Today was not a good day...

I had a rough morning...I had to go to the Vet.

I really love the Vet, but not today. Today I had a severe allergic reaction to something (at least, that is what my mom told me). It all started when my mom was about to leave for work and noticed me scooting across the floor on my belly and scratching really bad. She made me roll over so she could see why I was behaving badly...she even called my dad in to look at my belly. My mom got really upset and scared when Dad (he's a nurse) said I needed to go to the Vet because my Dad never encourages trips to the Vet! I had huge red bumps all over my belly and my eyelids and feet were swelling. My mom wanted to take a picture of my belly but I wouldn't let her...I really didn't feel very good. So, she took this picture instead.
The Vet told my mom that I must have eaten something I was allergic to or maybe I "got into something in the backyard"...but, I didn't do anything - I swear. The Vet made me feel better with a shot...I didn't even care about getting a shot because the hives were getting worse and I had a slight fever. I feel better now and my hives barely itch anymore. Mom says I have to stay on medication for a few days, but that doesn't bother me because I get those little pills wrapped in turkey! I love turkey!

Playing with Socks

My brother, Jackson, and I love Daddy's socks. We can always find one or two in the dirty clothes basket or in the closet. We get in trouble when we play with socks because our favorite game is tug-of-war and those socks don't last too long. Jackson and I like to rip them and tear them apart. Socks are so much fun!

Why Won't Someone Play with Me?

I’ve had a busy day. I found this shoe and I really wanted someone to play with me, but no one would so I had to entertain myself by throwing it in the air. Kramer was watching me and I’m sure he was planning some sort of assault. Once I got it nice and slobbery, I dropped it on Dad’s lap. He was NOT happy. So I figured “Sneaker” (that’s what I call my favorite shoe) and I would just take a nap.

Me & My Dad

I love playing with my Dad!

We wrestle every night before bed and it's one of the highlights of my day! My favorite is when he puts me on my back and slides me across the wood floors. Then, I run back and jump into his lap. We play like this for a long time...until Kramer comes in the room and attacks us. Then we have to stop. Kramer ruins all my fun!
